Tim graduated from Berklee College of Music in 1996, then returned to teach there in 2002. He is an active artist and educator who has made regular appearances in Colombia and Mexico with Berklee Latino and served as the Artistic Director of the JazzUV International Festival from 2015-2019. In this capacity, he also taught in Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico. His collaborations include jazz and Latin jazz artists such as Maynard Ferguson, Slide Hampton, John Faddis, Danilo Perez, and Arturo Sandoval, as well as Cape Verdean artists Bana, the Mendes Brothers, and Bius. In 2009, he earned a Grammy nomination with La Clave Secreta and has been credited on many highly-praised recordings, including his debut album as a leader, Resilience (2011, Jazz Legacy Productions). In 2021, he released Keeper Of The Flame, a swinging octet album featuring Rodney Whitaker, Ulysses Owens, Michael Dease, Miki Hayama, and Emmet Cohen. He also toured as part of a Horace Silver tribute quartet, and with Orlando Maraca Valle’s Latin Jazz All Stars featuring Steve Turre and Robby Ameen.
