The ensemble Jazz Funk Soul came together in 2013 as a touring group, boasting the talents of experienced musicians Jeff Lorber on keyboards, Chuck Loeb on guitar, and Everette Harp on saxophone. Each member had already established themselves as regulars on the smooth jazz charts before joining forces. Grammy winner Lorber had worked with notable musicians like Kenny G, Dave Koz, and Miles Davis, while Loeb and Harp had earned their own successes with Top 20 jazz albums and collaborations with artists like Eric Marienthal, Fourplay, and Stanley Clarke. The trio combined their wealth of experience to release their first album in 2014, titled Jazz Funk Soul, which was highly praised and even earned them a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album. Their second album, More Serious Business, was released two years later.
