About This Project
Get ready for The Dream Tour featuring two outstanding midwestern musicians: David Sanborn from St. Louis and Brian Culbertson originally hailing from Decatur, IL.
Six-time Grammy-Award winning 65-year-old Sanborn is known for his soulful saxophone sounds which continue to earn him praise and respect among fans for his unique blend of soul and rhythm & blues.
No stranger to adversity, Sanborn was stricken with polio as a child but overcame it by learning to play the saxophone as advised by his doctor in order to strengthen his chest muscles. Determined to follow doctors orders, young Sanborn did what he was told and as a result has become one of the most gifted and talented sax players of all time.
The other half of this phenomenal tour is the vibrant 39-year-old instrumentalist Brian Culbertson, whose engaging performance draws the audience into his world. Culbertson’s upbeat performance is captivating as he energetically switches back and forth from keyboard to trombone, bringing that funky jazz sound alive.
“…due to Mr. Culbertson’s June release “Dreams” and the 25th anniversary of a similarly-titled Sanborn classic, “The Dream.” After building solid camaraderie during a recent jazz festival, the composers and instrumentalists wisely decided to join forces and “continue the party on land,” which allowed them to gift the audience with nearly two hours of covers and hits.” – Melody Charles (Soul Tracks)
